Bring Your Friends & Family to the Biggest & Most Authentic Oktoberfest in North Carolina!
In keeping with the “Service Above Self” mission, the Apex Sunrise and Cary MacGregor Rotary Clubs have again partnered together in collaboration with the Town of Cary to host the 11th Annual Triangle Oktoberfest at Cary’s Booth Amphitheatre. We have created the largest and most authentic German festival in NC to celebrate German culture in the Triangle and to support charitable organizations here in our community and abroad.
Live entertainment will again showcase the King Guys Oktoberfest Brass Band with a great mix of traditional German songs and fun crowd favorites, the largest and most exciting Wiener Dog Races in NC with an added race on Friday, an expanded kid friendly (and parent approved) Kinder Platz with inflatables and face painting, MassKrugstemmen for a chance to qualify for the 3rd Annual Stein Hoist Championships, SchlagenHammer (Hammer-Striking) competitions, the always crowd pleasing Miss and Mr. Oktoberfest contest, the AutoBahn to showcase German precision engineering, and a German Meetup Spot hosted by the Sisters City Association of Cary with dignitaries from Wiesbaden in Germany.
TRADITIONAL BEER, FOOD, AND FARE
- Over 50 beers including Hofbrau, Paulaner, Bitburger, Ayinger, Hacker Pschorr, and Spaten from Mὓnich, along with a host of seasonal Oktoberfest beers and favorites from local craft breweries.

You may enter more than one race but you CANNOT enter BOTH races on Saturday. You may race Friday AND ONE of the Saturday races if you wish.
Races will be held on:
- Friday, October 4 at 7:15 PM
- Saturday, October 5 at 2:30 PM
- Saturday, October 5 at 4:45 PM
Free event entry included for 1 adult for each wiener dog. Additional adults must purchase a separate event ticket. Kids under 15 are free.
- The races are for purebred dachshunds only.
- No registration fee is required for the race and you get ONE FREE admission to the event with your dachshund. Additional adults must purchase a separate event ticket.
- By registering or attending with your dog you agree that your dog is current on all required vaccinations.
- There will be informal parades following each race. You may join the parade even if not racing. (To be clear, you get ONE free admission to the event if you bring a purebred dachshund. Even if you are not taking part in the race.)
- Entries will be accepted until races are full.
- Click THIS LINK to complete and submit the entry form.
- Owners must keep their dogs on a leash at all times (when not racing) and pick up after their dogs for proper disposal.
- The dogs start from a gate on a straight-line course about 60’ long. We prefer that one owner be with the dog at the start and another waiting at the finish line. (If you don’t have two people we have plenty of volunteers to help) It is common for the dogs to “lose focus” during the race and this is all part of the fun.
- This is a charity event and all workers are volunteers. We’re doing this for fun and we encourage everyone to keep a light-hearted attitude.
- Questions about the event may be directed to Steve at: puruckersteve@gmail.com.
