Smooth Nights at KBA Announced.



FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – March 23, 2022 –Continuing the tradition of great Jazz, Cary’s Koka Booth Amphitheatre is thrilled to introduce Smooth Nights at KBA. The premiere show of the series will open with Jazz Vocalist Lalah Hathaway. Daughter of legendary Donnie Hathaway, award winning Lalah Hathaway is a superstar in her own right. Joining Hathaway on the bill are 35-year dominating veteran of the genre Will Downing and North Carolina’s own renaissance woman Yolanda Raybun. The show is on May 8th. Celebrate Mother’s Day in style!


On July 2, the second show in the Smooth Nights at KBA series features Norman Brown, Alex Bugnon, and Marion Meadows. George Benson calls Norman Brown “one of the greatest and most articulate guitarists out there.” He will be joined by one of the most prolific and energetic Pianist of our generation, Alex Bugnon, and multi-award-winning saxophonist Marion Meadows. Start your July 4th celebrations off with these international legends and let the party begin!


Rounding out the Smooth Nights at KBA series on September 10th is British Acid Jazz great, Incognito. Led by multi-instrumentalist, song writer, producer, and arranger, Jean Paul “Bluey” Maunick continues to lead the way in Acid Jazz. Maysa will join Incognito on the bill. “On every song, Maysa’s consummate artistry spawns a redolent nod to the past while simultaneously creating her own unique soulful sound.” - NPR
